Nashrin Mitha
Instructional Assistant
Mrs. Mitha joined Third Academy in 2018, as an Instructional Assistant. She was born in Uganda, Africa and immigrated as a young girl (as refugees) to Canada with her family in 1972.With this new beginning brought with it opportunities for a better life.
Her field of study was Criminology/Police Sciences, her professional tenure was spent at the MNP Community and Sport Center (formerly Lindsay Park Sports Center), where she held several leadership roles throughout her 24 year career. But her secret passion was education. Thus, when you ask her, she will say, “I always felt that I had missed my calling to be a teacher, but coming to Third Academy, and being given this tremendous opportunity to teach, my HEART has found its forever home. I feel so very privileged and honored everyday to have the gift to teach our students and help them on their journey of discovery of self, learning and endless possibilities.” The school’s notion of “heal the heart and the mind will follow” resonates and aligns with Mrs. Mitha’s personal experiences. She has a passion for helping children reach their potential and loves challenging her students to be bold and curious thinkers and take chances while learning.
Mrs Mitha has been married for 34 years: her greatest accomplishment and joy are her 2 sons and daughter (in-law). When not at school, Mrs Mitha loves to spend time with family and friends, entertaining and volunteering. She has been actively volunteering and building capacity within the community for the past 42 years. Currently she serves as a Board Member on the Patient and Family Advisory Council (AHS) for the New Calgary Cancer Center. She volunteers on Saturdays as a Kindergarten Teacher, and is an active volunteer within her community.
It is through these experiences that she has a strong commitment and resolve of “giving back” and “gratitude”. The meaning of life is to find your gift…………. The purpose of life is to give it away.
