Joanne was born in Noranda, Quebec but moved to Sudbury, Ontario at age 2. She grew up in a small town beside Sudbury called Garson. She moved to Calgary at 18 with her sister. She found a job in Oil and Gas at a small company called DOSCO Supply where she was the Purchase Order Clerk and later into Accounts Payable. Five years later she started at Chevron Canada Resources and worked in the Word Processing department and then the Land department until she went on maternity leave. Joanne decided on a career change after having kids and went to Mount Royal College to get her Early Childhood Diploma. She then worked in a preschool called Creative Learning Center for the next 10 years. Wanting a different challenge, she got a job at Renfrew Educational Center and worked in an ECS Special Needs class for 5 years. A colleague mentioned a school called Third Academy and Joanne joined the school in 2016. Joanne is passionate about working with the students and watching them thrive as they learn and grow.

In her spare time, Joanne loves to walk and run with her dogs, Maya and Nikki.
