Nashrin Mitha
Instructional Assistant
Nashrin Mitha is a dedicated Instructional Assistant who has been an integral part of Third Academy since 2018. Born in Uganda, Nashrin and her family immigrated to Canada as refugees in 1972. This new beginning brought the opportunity for a better life, instilling in her a profound sense of gratitude and a lifelong commitment to giving back to her community.
While her formal education was in Criminology and Police Sciences, Nashrin spent over two decades in leadership roles at the MNP Community and Sport Centre. Despite her successful career, her true passion was always education. Joining the Third Schools system allowed her to finally fulfill that calling. As she describes it, “I always felt that I had missed my calling to be a teacher, but coming to Third Academy, and being given this tremendous opportunity to be in the classroom, my heart has found its forever home.” She considers it a daily privilege to help students on their journeys of self-discovery. The school’s guiding philosophy—"heal the heart and the mind will follow"—deeply resonates with her own life experiences. Nashrin is passionate about helping children reach their full potential, actively challenging her students to be bold, curious thinkers who are unafraid to take chances in their learning.
Outside the classroom, Nashrin is deeply devoted to her family and finds her greatest joy in her husband, her two sons, and her daughter-in-law. A passionate community builder, she has spent decades actively volunteering. She currently serves as a Board Member on the Patient and Family Advisory Council (AHS) for the Calgary Cancer Centre and volunteers as a kindergarten teacher within her local faith community.
For Nashrin, her work and volunteerism are guided by a simple, powerful philosophy: "The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away."
