Kurtis Lieske
Teacher
A Calgary native, Kurtis Lieske is a dedicated teacher in the elementary program at Third Academy. He brings both passion and expertise to his role as the lead teacher in the E4 classroom, and is proud to be part of the broader Third Schools educational system. He holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia, as well as a Bachelor's degree in English from Mount Royal University.

Kurtis’s teaching practice is guided by the core belief that every child learns best through a personalized approach. By focusing on each student’s unique strengths, he empowers them to achieve greater academic success. A strong advocate for critical thinking, Kurtis frequently integrates puzzles and games into his lessons. This engaging approach teaches students how to adapt flexibly and think creatively when encountering new challenges. Ultimately, his central goal is to help his students develop into conscientious citizens who thoughtfully question—and strive to improve—the world around them.

Outside of the classroom, Kurtis enjoys reading, tinkering, and spending time at home with his busy animal menagerie, which includes multiple dogs, birds, and fish. Continuing his love for strategy and community, he can often be found at board game events, where he enjoys teaching and learning from players of all ages.
