With a certificate in Disability Studies (Behaviour Studies Specialty) from Bow Valley College, James Knapp joined Third Academy/Third Schools in September 2018, as an Instructional Assistant to work with students in the Senior High division. He has a passion for helping students succeed, not just in academics areas, but social and personal development as well. Mr. Knapp is a master commercial chef and shares his knowledge and skills with students in Third Academy’s Foods courses. Enjoying the outdoors and some travel around, has led him to experience both school trips held in Manitoba (September 2018) and Ontario (September 2019) with the vigor and novelty of the students while rowing a canoe, hiking round an island in the snow, exploring an old mine or just spending quiet time by a bonfire with the students after a long day touring Shakespearian plays. While on the high school extended study trip to Ontario, Mr. Knapp was instrumental in ensuring students and staff had nutritious meals, including vegetables! Mr. Knapp appreciates that Third Academy provides a supportive environment for all students with special education needs, and is proud to be a member of a team of professionals providing the supports these children so desperately require.
