Christos Kazyas
Principal Jr/Sr High School
Greetings Third Academy Parents and Community,
It is my pleasure to continue to serve you as Principal this year! This is my third year in educational leadership and my thirteenth year teaching at Third Academy. Prior, to becoming Principal, I had many leadership experiences including Head Basketball/Football/Soccer Coach in many of the schools I taught in the past, High School Lead for Third Academy, Assistant Principal for Third Academy. This is my fifteenth year teaching and I have had the wonderful opportunity of teaching across two provinces, one territory and two countries. Even with these amazing experiences, I will always be and continue to be a teacher at heart. My career and educational background has taken me to several countries. I completed my university undergrad with a Major in Sociology and a Minor in Economics from The University of Western Ontario (U.W.O). By pursuing lifelong learning, I intend to be an example to students and teachers that we should never stop learning.
Upon graduation I worked at London Life and Coast Capital Savings working on RRIF’s, LIF’s, annuities, small business loans and finally on a merger team when Coast Capital Savings merged with Vancouver Island Credit Union. In 2004, I decided to leave the Banking industry and became an educator. I applied too and completed my Teaching Diploma from the University of Auckland in New Zealand. Upon graduation, I began my teaching career at St. Peter’s College in Auckland, New Zealand. In 2008, I moved to the Northwest Territories to begin an adventure in teaching in Canada’s Great White North. During the next three years, I acclimatized myself to both the cold and the Canadian curriculum.
During year 3 of my Great White North adventure, I met my future wife at a NYE party in Calgary and decided to move ‘down south’. Luckily, for me I was introduced to Third Academy and I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Sunil Mattu. The rest as they say is history…
Since my move to Calgary in 2010 I have had the pleasure of getting married (Karen McGlone) and having two wonderful little people. Charles Peter Kazyas and Beatrix Helen Angeliki Kazyas. They are the loves of my life. I have the same expectations for them as I do your children, who I love as if they are my own. I want to see them excel and become productive human beings, who have ample opportunity to become whatever they want when they grow up.
