Christos Kazyas
Associate Principal Elementary
Christos Kazyas proudly serves as the Associate Principal of Third Academy Elementary. With a rich background in educational leadership and a steadfast commitment to the school community, Christos brings extensive experience to his role, having previously served in multiple leadership roles in the Third Schools system.
A lifelong learner and a true "teacher at heart," Christos's career is as diverse as his geographic journey. Before entering the education field, he built a successful career in the financial sector with London Life and Coast Capital Savings. Driven by a passion to educate, he transitioned careers, earning his Teaching Diploma from the University of Auckland in New Zealand. He began his teaching practice at Auckland's St. Peter’s College before embarking on a teaching adventure in Canada's Northwest Territories. During these early years in education, Christos also honed his leadership skills outside the classroom by serving as a head coach for basketball, football, and soccer. He eventually relocated to Calgary, where he learned about Third Schools. His meeting with Sunil Mattu, Head of Schools, led him to find his professional home at Third Academy. Over the course of his career, he has taught across two countries, two provinces, and one territory.
He holds an undergraduate degree with a Major in Sociology and a Minor in Economics from the University of Western Ontario. Through his own pursuit of knowledge, Christos intends to be an ongoing example to students and teachers that we should never stop learning.
Outside of school, Christos is deeply devoted to his family. He and his wife, Karen, are the proud parents of two children, Charles and Beatrix. Christos brings the same high expectations and deep care to the students of Third Academy as he does to his own children, striving to help every child excel and grow into productive individuals equipped to pursue whatever future they choose.
