Michael Kunik
Teacher
Michael Kunik teaches elementary students at Third Academy, where he is dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for learners with special needs. He focuses on fostering foundational skills through engaging and supportive experiences that empower every child.
Michael’s teaching philosophy is rooted in structure, empathy, and the belief that growth comes from curiosity and effort. His background includes working with children with diverse barriers as the assistant camp coordinator for Camp HeHoHa, as well as years of specialized tutoring. He earned his BA in Political Science from Grant Macewan University and his BEd from the University of Alberta.
When he’s not in the classroom, Michael stays energized and focused through fitness and wellness activities. He also enjoys playing strategy-based games like Magic: The Gathering, which sharpen his creative and problem-solving skills.
Michael looks forward to continuing to grow alongside his students in a year filled with connection and achievement.
