Terry Smith
Bus Driver
Originally from Bathurst, New Brunswick, Terry brings an East Coast heart and a wealth of experience to the Third Academy team. Before taking the wheel of our school bus, Terry built a career in retail and served as a Traffic Control Supervisor, roles that honed her focus on safety and community service.
Her connection to Third Academy is deeply personal; having seen her own children and grandchildren attend the school, she witnessed firsthand the impact of our community. Inspired by her love for working with young people, Terry took on an additional role with the Third Academy family in October 2025 by transitioning from a parent, grandparent, and volunteer to that of an employee.
Terry’s primary focus is the safety and well-being of our students. As a School Bus Driver, she ensures that every student’s day begins and ends with a safe, reliable journey. She is dedicated to being a consistent, supportive presence for students during their commute to and from school.
Terry lives by a simple but powerful mantra: "Always be kind and true." She believes that supporting students with diverse learning needs starts with a commitment to helping them to the very best of her ability every single day. For Terry, "giving hope" means providing a steady hand and a kind word from the moment students step onto her bus.
When she isn’t ensuring our students get home safely, Terry is likely surrounded by her large and vibrant family. She is a proud mother of six and a grandmother of eight. You can often find her camping and enjoying the great outdoors with her family or relaxing at home with her beloved pets: Boots the cat, and her two dogs, Marley and Sable.
