Wayne Smith
Bus Driver
Wayne joined the Third Schools Transportation team as a bus route driver in September of 2018. He is semi-retired after working in Parks & Rec for 23 years as a hockey rink manager. Wayne switched careers & became a teacher/educator & taught internationally for 12 years and has worked in and around education since returning from Kuwait in 2013.
As a member of the Third Schools family, Wayne continues to be impressed by the quality and care services and programs offered to families by Third.
Prior to joining the Third Schools, Wayne was employed by Rocky View Schools as a Learning Assistant at Meadowbrook Middle School in Airdrie and at the Cochrane Community Learning Centre. As well as working as a Learning Assistant, he drove a school bus route for Southland from west Calgary to the tri-schools in Cochrane.
Wayne has a B.Ed. and taught overseas from 2001 to 2013 in South Korea, Singapore, Istanbul Turkey and Kuwait City Kuwait. His field of concentration in education was with special needs education.
Wayne’s wife Diana is a teacher for Rocky View Schools. He has two adult children and his daughter is a teacher at Rundle College. His son owns his own drywall business here in in Calgary.
