This is Mrs. Mitha’s second year at Third Academy as an Instructional Assistant in the E1 classroom and she also supports the Central Office administration. Her field of study was Criminology/Police Sciences, her professional tenure was spent at the Repsol Sport Centre (formerly Lindsay Park Sports Center), where she held several leadership roles throughout her 24 year career. But her secret passion was education. Thus, when you ask her, she will say, “I always felt that I had missed my calling to be a teacher, but coming to Third Academy, and being given this tremendous opportunity to teach, my heart has found its forever home. I feel so very privileged and honored everyday to have the gift to teach our students and and help them on their journey of discovery of self ,learning and possibilities.”
Mrs Mitha has been married for 31 years: her greatest accomplishment and joy are their 2 sons and daughter. When not at school, Mrs Mitha loves to spend time with family and friends, entertaining and volunteering. She has been actively volunteering and building capacity for the past 40 years. Currently she sits on the Patient and Family Advisory Council for the New Cancer Center as a board member. She volunteers on Saturdays as a KG teacher for her community and as a Deputy member for the Ismaili Volunteer Corps (volunteer base of 4000). She was born in Uganda, Africa and came to Canada as a refugee in 1972. It is through these life experiences that she has a strong commitment and resolve of “giving back” and “gratitude”. The meaning of life is to find your gift…………..The purpose of life is to give it away.
