Hi, my name is Derek Cambridge (Mr. C. as the students usually say).  Last year was my return to Third Academy. I actually worked at the South Campus from 2010 to 2012. This year marks my 22nd year as a teacher in Alberta and, in that time, I’ve gained experience teaching pretty much everything from grades 3 to 12 in the public system, the Catholic Separate system, the charter system, and in private schools and Native/Band run schools. For the 2019-2020 school year, I’m happy to say that I’ll be teaching a grade 7/8 split. These are the grades that I started with at Third Academy so long ago.

Currently I live in Airdrie with my wife, a grade 9 humanities teacher in Calgary, my daughter Mackenzie (8), my son Larson (6), and my two miniature Schnauzers Rider and Hunter. I was born in Saskatoon: So yes, Riders RULE!!! I enjoy watching the Blue Jays, the CFL, the NHL (well, when my kids let me watch my TV!!!), and I love playing with my kids and dogs, and just being with my family!!

I’m really looking forward to this year because I feel as though I’m coming back to work with family and to be with colleagues whose company I enjoyed last year. We are all a product of the things we’ve seen and the places we’ve been and I can say, without a doubt, that Third Academy is part of me and I’m happy to be home!!
