I graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in General Humanities, with English, Art, and History as my three streams, and a Bachelor of Education Degree, with an English Language Arts Education Major, and a Social Studies Education Minor.
I found my passion in working with special needs children during my last practicum. During my teaching assignments post-graduation, I easily bonded with these children and noticed they were not having their needs met in the public school system. I began looking for a different way for them to be able to learn in a safe, comfortable, and understanding environment. This led me to my research about Private Schools and eventually I discovered Third Academy. After discussing with them about their school and philosophy, I was hooked and excited for the opportunity to join a team that shared my views and passions in the teaching field. And now here I am!
The best thing about this profession is witnessing the growth in the children, both intellectually and emotionally. These are children who have struggled in traditional schools and feel like they don’t belong, so to be able to help them learn how they learn and give them the support they need is an amazing journey. We all have our unique gifts and it’s truly a blessing to be in an environment that encourages and understands this about each other (no matter how crazy we all are!)! I cannot wait to see what adventures my E3 class has this school year!
